Grainyboi, also known as Chris, is a documentary wedding photographer working exclusively with film. We partnered with him to create a brand that reflects this ethos: timeless, human, and deeply considered.
In a wedding photography market often dominated by polished, digital-first aesthetics, there was an opportunity to carve out a distinct space for something more authentic and emotive. Grainyboi’s commitment to shooting on film sets him apart, but the brand needed to communicate that difference clearly – elevating his craft while attracting couples who value imperfection, nostalgia, and genuine storytelling.
The challenge was to build a brand that felt as intentional as his work: balancing personality with refinement, and standing out while remaining true to the understated nature of documentary photography.
We created a brand that celebrates slowing down and capturing love stories as they’re meant to be told. At its core is a custom wordmark – expressive and full of nostalgic charm – giving the identity a confident presence while honouring a deep love for film.
The colour palette blends a refined gold, adding a sense of vintage warmth, with a soft pale blue that introduces balance and modernity. This combination reflects both the timeless and contemporary aspects of Chris’s work.
At the heart of the identity is the mascot, Grainy Boy – a playful and memorable character that embodies nostalgia and personality, while reinforcing the brand’s unique devotion to film.
We also designed and built a fully custom website to showcase Chris’s photography in its best light, creating a seamless journey from discovery to enquiry. The brand extends across a full suite of touchpoints – including stationery, social content, packaging, and merchandise – forming a cohesive and recognisable world around the work.
